Join other parents and Community Members and meet with the Administrative Staff at SCI in a relaxed environment. The meetings are held monthly in the SCI Library. All are welcome. If you have a topic of interest or would just like to meet and share ideas in a comfortable atmosphere, please come out. This is a great opportunity to learn about your child's school. SCI Parent Advisory Council Meeting Minutes
For Monday March 15, 2005 Location: SCI Library
Attendance: Doraine Wachniak, Gladys Hayward Williams, Karen Carey, Ingrid Wasylenko, Diane Duma, Colleen Ammeter

Meeting started at 7:00 p.m.

1. Motion to accept agenda

2. Motion to accept minutes of February 21,2005 as written, no corrections

3. Communication strategy discussion groups ( approximately 1 hour)
Information will be compiled and ready to be handed out for next meeting.

4. Old Business:
a) Invited guest for April meeting is Shawn Brooke. He will be discussing
community youth centre to be located in church beside SCI. ( ½ hour)

Letter of invitation ( on file) was sent to Dawn Birch re attending parent
council to talk about the Manitoba Student Leadership Conference to take
place at SCI in the fall. Tentative date April or May meeting (as yet
unconfirmed).

b) Parent Forum update: Letter of interest re SCI PAC sponsored forum sent
to 13 schools (PACS) in Sunrise ( March 6 ). Parent council members will follow-up with phone calls to PACS.

Copy of updated list of Parent councils in Sunrise was received. (on file)

c) Fundraising: Request from parent council to have an overview of the year’s fundraising activities in SCI. Who , Why, Purpose, Amt collected, Process for decisions approving fundraising. Some discussion about student council fundraising and where their monies are deposited and who signs cheques. Some areas of school fundraising include Band, Field Trips, Graduation, Canteen and Student council activities. Question also about who would claim charitable status.

Principal Report : P. Ilchena provided Division’s Draft Vision Document for review and feedback . Requesting feedback to him by March 18. Will be gathered and passed on to Superintendent.

Meeting adjourned due to lateness: Agenda items #6 and #7 moved forward to April meeting. Meeting adjourned 9:15 p.m.
