1. Call to Order: 6:30
p.m.
2. Approval of Agenda:
There was a request that smoking and cell phone usage be added to the agenda
under New Business. The agenda was approved as amended.
3. Approval of Minutes:
The minutes of the November 25, 2013 meeting were approved as presented.
4. Chair’s Report:
Shawn asked that the Executive to identify what they view as priorities for the
PAC, which can then be presented to the administration.
5. Principal’s Report:
Jackie Julien reported on upcoming events, 2014-2014 registration and the
registration process. Written report attached.
6. Treasurer’s Report:
No report.
7. Student Council’s Report:
No report. Student Council for 2013/14 school has not yet been established.
8. Correspondence:
Letter from Mennonite Church Manitoba regarding camp programs, information
regarding Springfield Youth Parliament (Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7)
and letter from Sunrise School Division Board of Trustees regarding 2013/2014
budget.
9. Business arising from
Minutes:
·
Analysis of hits on website
– Shawn advised that there is no goggle analytics on the SCI website. Tony will
look into having this added.
·
Additional award categories
(ie. 90’s award, 1st class honours) – Administration will look at
this next year. Jackie will contact other high schools to see what they are
doing.
· Community rental of school facilities – For safety
reason, custodian must be on duty when facility is used. There is no rental fee
for community use during the week (custodial staff already on duty) however on
weekends, there would be a charge to cover custodial staff.
·
Constitution – Review – deferred
to March meeting.
·
Status of ACSL funds donated
to Field of Visions – Theresa has asked that the donation be returned to the
ACSL and was recently advised that the Division is hoping to have this
completed within the next couple of months.
10. New Business:
·
Nomination for Award of
Excellence in Teaching – Shawn asked that one of the Executive members
coordinate.
·
Smoking at SCI – The
location of the smoking area was discussed with a suggestion that the area be
moved to an area less visible to visitors. Jackie advised that the smoking area
is monitored by both a camera and staff. Jackie will contact other high schools
to see what they are doing.
·
Cell phone usage – The
school policy on cell phone usage was discussed.

2. We are getting ready for 2014-2015 registration, SMS, Dugald and
Anola have already visited SCI, and we have a parent orientation session for
new students scheduled for March 6, 2014 @ 6:30pm
3. 2014 Registration process
Student registration guide is on-line, packages will be
sent home with students on February27th, 2014 and are to be returned to
the T/A by March 12, 2014.
