1. Call to Order: 6:25
p.m.
2. Approval of Agenda:
The agenda was approved as presented.
3. Approval of Minutes:
February 23, 2015 Motion (1) by Shelley, 2nd Maryn. Carried
4. Student Council Report: No
report. A suggestion was made to have a member of the PAC attend a Student
Council meeting to make contact with this group. Carolyn and Maryn volunteered
to attend. Carolyn will email Jim Osler to make arrangements.
5. Chair’s Report: Shawn advised that a
discussion had taken place prior to the formal meeting regarding the purpose of
the PAC and what it can do for the school.
Tony will talk to administration and put the question out to teachers. The
meeting then discussed the importance of parental involvement in parent/teacher
conferences and how to encourage parents to come out.
6. Principal’s Report:
As Jackie was unable to attend the meeting, Tony provided a report on 2015-2016
registrations, grad 2015 and the physical education and health curriculum. Written
report attached. There was also a discussion on upcoming Program for
International Student Assessment (PISA) testing. 42 students were chosen at
random by PISA to take part in the testing on May 14 and 15.
7. Treasurer’s
Report:
As Jodi was unable to attend the meeting, there was no report.
8. Correspondence: Letter
received from Ron Schuler regarding petition to improve pavement markings to
indicate the shoulder and the crosswalk and install a lighted crosswalk
structure at the intersection at Cedar Avenue and highway 206. The petition is
available in the SCI office if anyone is interested in signing.
9. Business arising from
Minutes:
· Review Constitution – Motion (2) to create a sub-committee to go over any changes to the Constitution by Carolyn, 2nd Maryn. Carried. Carolyn will chair this sub-committee.
· Springfield Music
Association – Shawn advised the President of SMA, will attend an upcoming
meeting to report on SMA’s activities.
· Phys.Ed./Health – This
addressed in the Principal’s Report.
· Cafeteria – There has been
excellent feedback on the menu offered at the canteen.
10. New Business:
· Canteen – DPAC Meeting –
Thursday, April 27, 2015 – Shawn will be attending the meeting and will report
back.
· Student interim reports – interim
reports are issued if student is at risk of not achieving credit. Some teachers
send to all students.

Monday, May 25, 2015 at 6:30 p.m., SCI Library.

Principal’s Report April 2015
Ø
We have completed the
registration process for the 2014-2015 school year. We are currently working on
timetabling for the next school year.
Ø Grad 2015
o Moving ahead nicely
o Grad committee members have been to Club Regent Event Centre for
meal selection
o Another meeting scheduled this week with students grad committee.
Ø
Physical
Education & Health Curriculum
o Courses such as CPR, First Aid and coaching certification is not
done during the regular physical education course, there is not enough time,
nor is it an outcome of the curriculum. Some outcomes related to first aid and
CPR are covered in the curriculum, but do not provide certification.
o At SCI we offer a Sports Leadership course, this course does offer
the above mentioned certifications if it can be arranged with the appropriate
service providers.

Trip – May 6th – 11th.
o Daily announcements are being posted on school website.
