Join other parents and Community Members and meet with the Administrative Staff at SCI in a relaxed environment. The meetings are held monthly in the SCI Library. All are welcome. If you have a topic of interest or would just like to meet and share ideas in a comfortable atmosphere, please come out. This is a great opportunity to learn about your child's school. Monday, FEBRUARY 23, 2015

1.    Call to Order: 6:30 p.m. 

2.    Approval of Agenda: Shawn asked that the school canteen be added under New Business. The agenda was approved as amended. 

3.    Approval of Minutes: January 26, 2015 Motion (1) by Jodi, 2nd Shelley. Carried. 

4.   Student Council Report: No report. Tony advised that he attends the Student Council meetings. A question was raised whether the PAC should encourage Student Council to send a representative to PAC meetings. A suggestion was made for the PAC to extend an invitation to the Student Council and Shari volunteered to send an email to the administration. 

5.    Chair’s Report: No report. 

6.   Principal’s Report: Jackie thanked the PAC and parents for the staff appreciation luncheon. She reported on upcoming events including Grade Wars (March 24-27, 2015) and 2015-2016 registrations. Written report attached. 

7.  Treasurer’s Report: Verbal report given. Balance in bank account is $632.14. 

8.  Correspondence: Fundraising package received from Dieleman Fundraising.
9.   Business arising from Minutes: 

·       Review Constitution – PAC members are asked to review and provide comments at the next meeting. 

·       Smoking at SCI – After a brief discussion, it was decided to revisit this item at a later date. 

·      Teacher Appreciation – The lunch was enjoyed and appreciated by staff. Shawn received several emails thanking the PAC for coordinating the luncheon. 

·       Springfield Music Association – Shawn advised the President of SMA, will attend an upcoming meeting to report on SMA’s activities. 

·      Phys.Ed./Health – Discussion about the possibility of a CPR/First Aid course being offered to students as part of Phys. Ed. and/or Health. Jackie advised that CPR/First Aid is currently offered through the Sports Leadership course.  Jackie will find out curriculum requirements and report back to the PAC. 

10. New Business:  

·       Canteen – Jackie reported that Ms. Sinclair is retiring. SCI currently has a tender out for canteen services.

Principal’s Report February 2015

1.              Staff of SCI would like to thank our Pac and our Parent community for the wonderful luncheon that was provided to all of us. 

2.              Grade Wars – March 24-27, 2015

3.              We are getting ready for 2015-2016 registration, SMS, Dugald and Anola will be visiting SCI this week, and we have a parent orientation session for new students scheduled for March 5, 2015 @ 6:30 p.m. 

4.               2015 Registration process
          Student registration guide is on-line, packages will be sent home with students on February 26th, 2015 and are to be returned to the T/A by March 10, 2015, during period. Registration will occur during periods 1 & 2 on March 12, 2015 with your child’s teacher advisor.
