Join other parents and Community Members and meet with the Administrative Staff at SCI in a relaxed environment. The meetings are held monthly in the SCI Library. All are welcome. If you have a topic of interest or would just like to meet and share ideas in a comfortable atmosphere, please come out. This is a great opportunity to learn about your child's school. As Shawn Brook was absent from the meeting, Carolyn Whyte, the Vice Chair, acted as Chair of the meeting.
1.    Call to Order: 6:30 p.m. 
2.    Approval of Agenda: The agenda was approved as presented.
 
3.   Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the October 28, 2013 meeting were approved as presented.
 
4.   Chair’s Report: No report.
 
5.   Principal’s Report: – A report was given by Jackie Julien on Field of Visions, projected enrollment, SCI smart technology, restorative practices, SCI website and upcoming events.
 
6.   Treasurer’s Report: Jodi had to leave the meeting to attend another meeting. As per Jodi’s advice, Theresa advised that the balance in the bank account is $407.14.
 
7.   Student Council’s Report: No report. Student council for 2013/14 school year has not yet been established. Jackie will meet with the teachers in charge of the leadership course and Social Justice to discuss.
 
8.   Correspondence: Letter from Springfield Parents for Performing Arts acknowledging donation to the Performing Arts Scholarship Fund, letter from Manitoba Education and Advanced Training regarding Kids Help Phone and letter from Manitoba Education, Instruction, Curriculum and Assessment Branch regarding changes to special language credit options (further information available on the Manitoba Education website).  

9.   Business arising from Minutes: 

·    DPAC Meeting November 12, 2013 – Patricia reported various topics were discussed, including electronics in the classroom, diverse learning, social justice, restorative practices and Beyond the Hurt (a program that helps schools or organizations stop and prevent bullying offered through the Red Cross).
·    Field of Visions – addressed in Principal’s Report.
·    Inventory of Smart Boards – addressed in Principal’s Report.
·    Analysis of Hits on SCI Website – deferred to January meeting.
·    Restorative Practices – addressed in Principal’s Report.
·    Information on Projected Enrollment – addressed in Principal’s Report.
·    Constitution Review - deferred to January meeting. 

10.  New Business:  

·    Public Budget Meeting – December 5, 2013 (subsequently rescheduled to December 17, 2013) – Jackie advised that a “wish list” has not been prepared yet.
