    Chair's Report November 2016
Attended the AGM on October 24, 2016 and was voted in to the position of Chair for SCI PAC. Great honor, thank you, to work with a well-established committee for the SCI parents and students.

Received notification of the MAPC Chairperson’s breakfast which is to be held on Saturday, February 4th (just waiting on the time and location). This will be hosted by the Samuel Burland PAC in the Louis Riel School Division. I plan on attending this event.

Sunrise School Division is reviewing how well we communicate with people in the division’s geographic area, particularly in terms of how well the division is meeting or exceeding expectations in our role in educating students from kindergarten through grade 12 and how well people understand what the division and the Board of Trustees do. As a PAC Chairperson, you are being invited to participate in a stakeholder session being held on November 22, 2016 at 7pm in Beausejour. Due to another commitment Theresa will attend in my absence.

Principal's Report November 2016

1.  SCI identity Pep Rallies have been successful with a great student body representation and participation. We are highlighting different groups of students both in the school and also students involved in different things outside of school. Videos are being created and shared of all the great things going on, for example we highlighted our volleyball teams, our bands, students involved in Special Olympics, a student who played a set at Fionn MacCool\s in Winnipeg, etc., We have also kicked off our new logo contest, which will highlight our Values (Spirit, Community, Integrity).

Stakeholder Session & DPAC Meeting
Tuesday, November 22, 2016

The following is my report on attending the stakeholder session and DPAC meeting on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

Representatives of Sunrise School Division PAC’s were invited to attend a stakeholder session conducted by Change Makers. Sunrise School Division is reviewing how well it communicates with people in the division’s geographic area, particularly in terms of how well the division is meeting or exceeding expectations in its role in educating students from kindergarten through grade 12 and how well people understand what the division and the Board of Trustees do. In Sunrise, these session were being conducted as part of the recommendations that came out of the Meyers Norris Penny organizational and governance report issued in 2014. There are four Winnipeg school divisions conducting similar sessions to study how effective their communication is.

The session I attended was held at 5:30 p.m. and took approximately one hour. In addition to me, there were representatives from three other PACS. We were asked to respond to a number of questions regarding our experiences with the Board of Trustees, the Sunrise School Division and schools.

After the stakeholder session, I attended the DPAC (Divisional Parent Advisory Council) meeting. The topic for the evening was School Division Safety Procedures. The presentation was excellent, very informative and covered many issues including fire drills, lock-down procedures, threats/violence/risk protocol, etc. I have attached a copy of the powerpoint presentation for additional information.
